Day 1San'aLocals in distinct traditional garb jostle for space in the narrow alleyways of the Old City. Spend an unforgettable night here in an ancient tower house, an example of an early skyscraper.
Day 2Al-MahwitPeek inside the lovely latticed windows of an 18th century rock palace. Seeming to grow out of the rocky crag upon which it stands, this impressive palace is symbolic of Yemeni architecture.
Days 3-4Al-HajjarahTrek in the Haraz Mountains and stop in at a coffee plantation.
Days 5-6Al-HudaydaLearn the tricks of trade in Beit Al-Faqih's enormous Friday morning market.
Days 7-8Ta'izzImmerse yourself in Yemeni culture at the Qat souq in Jibla after experiencing the frenzy of the fish market at Al-Hudayda.
Day 9AdenVisit the legendary launch pad of Noah's Ark and take a tour around Aden's picturesque Old Town, its crooked streets lined with houses in charming Victorian and Indian styles.
Days 10-11Wadi HadramawtSpend the night in a beautifully decorated mud hotel and explore the spectacular Wadi Hadramawt. An afternoon bicycle ride travels through fragrant fruit orchards and into Shibam, famously nicknamed Manhattan of the Desert for its densely packed collection of 16th century multi-storey houses.
