Discovering the geological and biological marvels of this unique natural kingdom

Madagascar is genuinely different. It is home to countless endemic species of flora and fauna and has some spectacular scenery. Our itinerary includes some incredible walking in an extraordinary array of landscapes: high altitude rainforest, mountains, arid desert and spiny forest, as well as walking among some amazing rock formations in Isalo national park. There is ample opportunity to enjoy the rare flora and wildlife with visits to both the renowned Perinet and Ranomafana national parks. With at least 80% of the plantlife and reptiles endemic to the island, each day of the itinerary offers the chance to discover something new. A full itinerary and an amazing opportunity to see the beautiful, yet endangered, lemurs.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Antananarivo. 2 City tour; free time to explore city at leisure. 3 Drive to Andasibe; visit to Peyreiras centr in Mandraka. 4 Visit to Perinet N.P.; day visit and night walk amongst large population of lemurs. 5 Walk and enjoy wildlife in park. 6 Drive to Antsirabe, visiting local villages en route. 7 Drive past rice fields, pine forests and rocky mountains to Ranomafana N.P. 8 Full day experiencing scenery and wildlife of Ranomafana. 9 Free time to visit national park at leisure. 10 Town tour of Fianarantsoa; visit paper factory at Ambalavao; to Ranohira. 11 Visit spectacular canyons and natural swimming pools of Isalo N.P. 12 Continue in national park visiting Rat Canyon; watch sunset at the Fenetre de L'Isalo. 13 Drive to Anakao via port town of Tulear. 14-15 Two relaxing days at Anakao; swimming, snorkelling, visit to the small island of Nosy Ve and more (all optional.) 16 Fly to Antananarivo 17 End Antananarivo.

Mode of travel: Travel is by private bus, on some poor roads, and internal flight.
