En route, stop at Portage Lake for a cruise on the mv Ptarmigan. When you arrive in Seward, a picturesque port town on Resurrection Bay, enjoy a visit to the Alaska SeaLife Center-the Northern Hemisphere's only coldwater research facility and the home of Steller sea lions, harbor seals and a variety of seabirds. | Day 3 | Talkeetna | Seward - Talkeetna: 240 miles : Board your sightseeing vessel this morning for an amazing cruise of Kenai Fjords National Park-an amazing wonderland of glaciers, fjords and marine wildlife. After your cruise, retrace your route back to Anchorage, sightseeing along Turnagain Arm and Cook Inlet. Then venturing onward to Talkeetna where the views of Mt. | Day 4 | Fairbanks | Talkeetna - Fairbanks: 278 miles : Look around Talkeetna, the quirky mountaineering town that inspired the TV show "Northern Exposure" before continuing your scenic highway journey through the heart of Alaska. The small town of Nenana, home of the winter Ice Classic, is a great place to stop for lunch. Later, arrive in Fairbanks, Alaska's second largest city.
